Conscious Sedation

It involves giving you a sedative medicine through a vein in your arm or hand. The sedative makes you feel deeply relaxed. You will be able to talk and cooperate with your dental team, but most people cannot remember much about their treatment.

Londent is proud to offer dental treatment under Conscious Sedation. Our qualified sedation dentist, Dr Sian Li, works with even the most phobic patients to treat their dental needs in an efficient and calming environment.

Who is Conscious Sedation suitable for?

Conscious Sedation can help patients who have:
• Dental anxieties and phobias
• Needle phobias
• Hypersensitive gag reflexes
• And those who may require prolonged or intensive treatments

Which treatments can I be sedated for?

Every situation is different, and your Sedationist will discuss with you whether Conscious Sedation is appropriate for your circumstances.

Procedures can include;

• Restorative treatments like fillings
• Root canal and extirpations
• Bridges, crowns and veneers
• Extractions (may include oral surgeon input)

Which type of Conscious Sedation do you offer?

We offer Intravenous (IV) Sedation at Londent.

Is IV Sedation safe?

As with any medical intervention, there are potential risks. However, Conscious Sedation has been used in dentistry for many years and as such, robust and clearly defined operating protocols are in place to reduce risks to a minimum.

In addition, a detailed consultation is carried out prior to any treatment to further identify and mitigate potential risks. During this consultation, any questions and concerns you may have can be addressed and discussed.

Will I be awake during Sedation?

Once sedated, you will be awake, however, you will be in an extremely relaxed and calm state. You will be relieved of all feelings of nervousness and anxiety.

How much does Conscious Sedation cost?

Conscious sedation costs start from £300. A full estimate will be provided, taking into account the length of the sedation and the treatments you are being sedated for.

How do I access Conscious Sedation services?

If you are an existing Londent patient and wish to use our sedation service: Call our customer care team on 020 7407 0211.
If you are a patient at another dental surgery: Speak to your dentist and ask them to refer you using our online referral form.
If you are a dentist/dental surgeon, and you would like to refer a patient: Speak to our reception team or submit a referral using our online form.

The team at Londent is excellent. Dr Patel consistently provides me with stellar service. He identified and escalated an ongoing issue I had with an old root canal which resulted in requiring a re-root canal with a recommended specialist (who was also amazing). Without getting this procedure, I could have suffered severe implications, so for that alone I would highly recommend his expertise!

Truly the best dental team in London! I am extremely dental phobic having had years of bad treatment and experiences. However, this year I had to have quite a bit of work following an accident. Dr Shefali was kind and caring throughout the whole process, taking time (even on days off) to explain my treatment options and check on my well-being. The standard of work is outstanding - a pain free root canal carried out by Dr Suraj and crown replacement by Dr Shefali. The clinic is a calm, welcoming environment with a friendly reception team to put you at ease. After years of hiding my smile, it has been transformed. I cannot recommend Londent enough, thank you for taking such great care of me.

I booked an 80 pound emergency appointment to get my crown reattached. Doctor was very agitated by anything and everything she seemed stressed and impatient and it was a very uncomfortable experience. The whole thing took 10 mins for an appointment that was scheduled to be half an hour. It just felt like she didn't care and just wanted to rush through the appointment. I paid 200 pounds into total. Considering the cost of the service I expected a higher level of care and professionalism from the clinic. I'm very disappointed by the treatment of patients.

I have tried many a dentist in my lifetime, it used to always be a chore and something I would fear and ultimately put off… HOWEVER…When I was recommended Londent my fears were immediately put to bed.I have been a patient of Dr Shefali and her team for a few years and they are incredibly personable, knowledgeable and professional.
